League in Libraries - Rīki i ngā Whare Pukapuka

League in Libraries 2024 is back!

Lost moa eggs, alien catepillars, wizards, rogue meteors and magic slime are just a few of the fantastical stories that have been entered and winners of our League in Libraries - Rīki i ngā Whare Pukapuka creative writing competition.

Established with the aim of improving literacy achievement in primary schools, League in Libraries encourages tamariki to rediscover the enjoyment of reading and writing, an essential life skill.

League in Libraries - Rīki i ngā Whare Pukapuka invites primary and intermediate school students to submit stories about their favourite Warriors for judging.  The best primary, intermediate and kura kaupapa Māori students have their work professionally edited, illustrated and published.

To date, League in Libraries has published 17 young authors across 415 schools.

We are very thankful to our principal sponsors, Wright Family Foundation.
